Grief’s Sacred Door
In a world we desperately desire to be bright,
Sometimes things just aren't quite right.
When your heart feels torn in two,
And you're not sure what to do.
There's a phrase you need to hear,
When sadness fills you up with fear.
"There's no comfort there," they say,
And open the space for you to feel the frey.
When a love you’ve held so dear,
Leaves you shedding tear after tear,
It's okay to feel the pain,
Let your grief pour like the rain.
When dreams crumble, plans undone,
And you watch them, one by one,
Burn to ashes, fill the air,
It’s ok that “there's no comfort there”.
And when a loved one passes away,
Leaving you in disarray,
In that quiet all consuming dark,
Feel your sadness, yes, this will leave a mark.
There's a beauty in the depth,
In the pain that moves in your breath,
It's okay to let it out,
To scream and cry and shout.
When all you can do is pull into a tight curl,
Surrender, let it be, create the pearl,
In these moments, there's a gate,
An opportunity to create.
Whatever you’ve lost has carved a space,
Where you can invite in that holy grace,
For in the darkness, you will find,
The strength that lies within your mind.
Embrace your sadness, let it be,
For in feeling, you are free,
To express, experience and explore,
How you’ll best move through grief's sacred door.
